HRU Assaan-ANU and his facilitators use various program offerings as a means to service low-working revenue/resource lacking families in inner city and rural areas. All programs are rooted in a benchmark system of communal acknowledgement with the verified exhibition of acquired life skills. In doing this, participants are able to progress boldly amongst one another and their outer social orders with a confidence in knowing that their acquired skills have been demonstrated, confirmed, and accepted by a greater community that they identify with; by healthy norms.HRU has organized his systems of learning exclusively for educational, civic, and social purposes. HRU targets the Elder and youth populations primarily as he feels those two groups hold the key to a nation’s survival and continuance. In a society where much of the citizens aim is individualistic aspiration and based on obtainment as opposed to achievement and one’s ability to obtain is the paramount barometer for measuring worth; OUR Elderly and pre-adolescents are socially devalued and seen as economic liabilities as opposed to the chief and essential priorities of a functional, well designed family unit and subsequent community. The organization’s activities consist primarily of educational workshops, artist, workshops, and informational handouts that all center on Rites of Passage and a participant centered hands-on teaching method.
HRU models the Congolese system of community accountability and responsibility by establishing a paradigm that engages the younger and adult class of its mark communities through artistic, physical, educational, and spiritual experiences. By creating an organizational/workshop structure where each component inevitably interacts and is interdependent on verifying the achievement of the expected and target outcomes of the individual program components the participants create a sub-community amongst themselves through an indirect, suggestive, fundamental process.
The organization’s main goal is to provide custom tailored learning experiences for all participants in an attempt to strength, or in some cases, create healthy communities. Through the use of artistic workshops and professional development seminars, the educational and artistic communities can learn to implement Rite of Passage pedagogy into their instructional/facilitation methods.
Through the HRU’s workshop and program model participants are ushered through an equal experience, which in terms creates an environment of true bonding and community cultivation. The aspiration of the program is not only to create industrious members of a healthy social order but also, to create an atmosphere of self-directed learning experiences that, in turn, teach participants to be freethinking and self-defining. The entire hemisphere of individual/collective improvement is addressed and participants will eventually be able to distinguish each other as qualified components of a self-sufficient/interdependent group of people.
